Abstract

This paper explores the complex relationship between Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainable impact in the Tata Group's fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and consumer products division. It focuses on Tata Consumer Products Limited (TCPL), a company that reflects the Tata Group's ethical values through its sustainable practices integrated into its business strategy. The study examines CSR initiatives during fiscal years 2022-23 and 2023-24, highlighting areas such as responsible sourcing, circular packaging, rural livelihood development, water conservation, and women's empowerment. The research uses a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative data from official sustainability and integrated annual reports with qualitative insights from secondary sources and corporate disclosures. It shows how Tata's CSR philosophy goes beyond traditional philanthropy by incorporating sustainability throughout its value chain and brand identity. The findings reveal measurable progress in using renewable energy, reducing carbon intensity, and achieving water positivity. They also emphasize the broader social impact of programs like Jaago Re and Project Jalodari. The study concludes that Tata Consumer Products' CSR model offers a replicable framework for creating sustainable value, where corporate profits and social responsibility work together to redefine modern corporate citizenship.
