The startup ecosystem is very important for technological prowess, financial growth, and job creation across the world. However, especially within the first 5 years of launch, the high failure rate increases major concerns for startups and their stakeholders. This study addresses many of the challenges found with startups, such as cash-flow mismanagement due to a lack of a funding strategy, loss of sanity by being over-dependent on external funding, adoption of unsustainable models and skewed pricing. In early stages, startups are highly exposed to the following types of risks: market risk, financial risk and strategic and operational challenges. All these issues could strongly impact the growth and sustainability of startups. This study focuses on the significance of strategies related to risk management for startups, while assessing, identifying, and reducing risks for long-term success. It highlights major practices related to risk management, such as building response strategies, constant monitoring of risks, and collaboration. The study further discusses strategies and best practices for startups to overcome resource constraints, uncertainties and other challenges. Improved risk management principles, decision-making, and better odds of achieving sustainable growth in an uncertain environment strengthen the start-up. This research emphasizes proper monitoring, financial planning and also diversified sources of funds. It provides actionable recommendations to improve resilience in startups and promote a sustainable landscape.
